Delightful Reveal #62

A bi-weekly update on all things Flagrant

“If you didn’t want questions, why did you build a labyrinth for the mind?” - overhead at Flagrant

What we did:

  • Conducted a multi-day product design sprint with a new client in construction management around diversity, equity, and inclusion compliance
  • Replaced a custom file-uploading component with OneSchema
  • Figured out how to wire up a background job with action cable
  • Met with a transportation company about helping to design and build a new platform
  • Added flare and sparkle to the RubyConf website that lives up to Val’s design and creates a better experience for the conference attendees
  • Began adding new content sections for Flagrant’s website to educate and sell our quick wins to potential clients
  • Did a dress rehearsal for Rails World emcee with Amanda Perino and Rebecca Miller-Webster
  • Delivered final assets to Rocky Mountain Ruby (badges and stickers!)
  • Created new postcards/info cards for Training Tracker and sent them to print
  • Updated a component library in Figma to use Font Awesome, which we learned has a wonderful Figma component!
  • Explored the solid suite of gems (solid_queue, solid_cable, solid_cache) that are becoming defaults in Rails 8
  • Chatted as a team about Marketing for Weirdos during Clap & Cringe
  • Added ActionCable support for live updates of shared discussions in an AI driven chat application
  • Wrote a blog post on using ActionCable with TurboStreams
  • Created a quick screencast of how to export an image from Figma that was getting cropped/cut off for a coworker:
